Suspending your Ting Mobile number

In this article

Why suspend your phone number? How to suspend your number

Through your Ting account dashboard, you can suspend your service to keep your phone number secure. When you’re ready to reinstate it, the dashboard makes it quick and easy to do so yourself.

Why suspend your phone number?

Suspending your number temporarily makes it unavailable for mobile service while keeping it safe from reassignment. It’s a better option than deactivation, as deactivated numbers may be reassigned, and you might not be able to reactivate the same one.

We recommend suspending your number if:

  • Your phone is lost, and you’re waiting for a replacement.
  • You’re traveling internationally and won’t need service until you return.

Note: Suspending a number stops usage on that line, but your Ting plan charges will continue.

How to suspend your number

  1. Log in to your Ting account.
  2. Go to Device settings.
  3. Select the phone number you want to suspend.
  4. Click the pencil icon next to Status.
  5. Choose Suspend this device from the drop-down menu.
  6. Click Suspend to confirm

Need help with a deactivated number?

If you’ve accidentally deactivated your number, contact us as soon as possible. While we can’t guarantee recovery, we have the best success within the first two weeks after deactivation.
