Wi-Fi Calling can be a lifesaver when cell service is spotty—but if it’s not working the way it should, here are some simple steps to get things back on track.
Quick fixes to try first
- Check your Wi-Fi connection. A weak or unstable signal is the most common culprit.
- Restart your phone. Sometimes, a quick reboot is all it takes.
- Update your device. Make sure your phone's operating system and carrier settings are current.
1. Confirm Wi-Fi Calling is turned on
iPhone
- Go to Settings.
- Tap Phone.
- Select Wi-Fi Calling.
- Toggle Wi-Fi Calling on This iPhone on.
Android
- Navigate to Settings.
- Tap Network & Internet.
- Select Mobile Network.
- Choose Advanced.
- Enable Wi-Fi Calling.
2. Reset your network settings
If things still aren’t working:
iPhone
- Tap Settings.
- Select General.
- Choose Transfer or Reset.
- Tap Reset.
- Select Reset Network Settings.
Android
- Tap Settings.
- Choose System.
- Select Reset options.
- Choose Reset Wi-Fi, mobile & Bluetooth.
3. Test with Airplane Mode
Turn on Airplane Mode, then enable Wi-Fi. This forces your phone to rely solely on Wi-Fi Calling. If that works, your signal may be too weak, causing interference.
4. Check Wi-Fi Calling preferences
Some Android devices let you choose between Wi-Fi preferred or Cellular preferred. Switching to Wi-Fi preferred can help in low-signal areas.
5. Still stuck? Try these
- Remove and reinsert your SIM card.
- Reboot your router.
- Disable any VPN's or firewalls.
Wi-Fi Calling Not Available- Check Wi-Fi connection, VPNs, and router ports.
Calls dropping or poor quality- Use a stronger Wi-Fi signal or move closer to the router.
Error Code: 07-08-00-02- Usually a SIM or provisioning issue—reboot your phone.
Calls failing with certain contacts- Dial the full 10-digit number, re-save the contact, and check for any call blocking.
