Transferring my Domain Name to Ting Domains

Moving your domain name to Ting is simple and straightforward. We've streamlined the process to accommodate the diverse rules and regulations of different domain registries. Whether you have a generic domain (like .com or .org) or a country-specific one (such as .us or .io), our platform ensures a smooth and easy transfer.

General Transfer Rules

To transfer your domain successfully, you need to meet these requirements:

  • Unlock status: Your domain must not be locked (known as clientTransferProhibited) or in a Hold status.
  • Grace period: You can transfer most domains that are in their grace period after expiration. This will renew your domain for one year.
  • Contact information: Make sure the email address for the person managing the domain (administrative contact) is correct and working. This email will be used to confirm the transfer request.
  • Registration period: Generally, your domain should be with your current provider or reseller for at least 60 days.
  • Registration duration: Your domain can't already be registered for the maximum time (usually 10 years).

Note

The transfer will add one year to your domain registration. This extra year is included in the transfer fee.

Domain Transfers into your Account

Domain transfers are initiated by the receiving registrar, so once your domain is ready to be transferred to us, we’ll handle most of the process for you.

Here are three simple steps to make sure your domain is ready to be transferred:

  1. Check your admin contact email: Make sure it's correct and you can access it. You'll receive important transfer emails there.
  2. Unlock your domain: Do this in your current registrar's account.
  3. Get the transfer auth code: You can usually find this in your account. If not, ask your current provider's support team for help. Make sure you have this code before starting the transfer - you'll need it to complete the process.
