WAV Recording Guide for Voicemail, Auto-attendant, and Hold
This guide walks you through the process of recording or converting WAV files for upload to the Ting Voice Admin Portal. The files can be used in your auto-attendant, voicemail greeting, or as hold music.
Recording a Voice Greeting on Androids or iOS
- Download the Broadsoft Recorder from the iTunes Store for iOS devices or the Google Play Store for Androids.
- Open the Broadsoft Recorder app.
- Tap the plus icon at the top right corner of the screen.
- Tap the record button at the bottom of the screen to begin recording.
- Tap the stop button to pause or finish your recording.
- Tap the checkmark button at the top right corner of the screen to confirm recording completion.
- Name your recording.
- The new recording will automatically be saved to your device.
- Preview your recording by tapping the play button to the left of the recording entry.
- Send the WAV file to an email address, and tap the envelope icon to the right of the recording entry. The file will be sent as an attachment for download.
- You can now upload the WAV file to the Ting Voice Admin Portal.
Converting an Existing Audio File Online

- Go to G711.org.
- Click Browse to locate your source file.
- Select the u-Law WAV(8Khz, Mono, CCITT u-law) option as the Output Format.
- Check the Optimize Audio for Phone (Bandpass Filter) option.
- Click Submit.
- You can now upload the WAV file to the Ting Voice Admin Portal.
Audio Specifications
For audio files to be successful, ensure they:
- Have a WAV extension
- Use a sample rate of 8,000 Hz / 8 kHz
- Utilize u-Law encoding
- Do not exceed a maximum file size of 5,000 kB
