Performing a factory reset
A factory reset restores your phone to its original settings and can resolve persistent issues.
⚠️ Important
A factory reset will erase everything on your phone. Be sure to back up your device before proceeding. When you are done your reset, you can restore your phone data.
How to factory reset an Android
The process may vary slightly depending on your phone’s manufacturer. Refer to your device’s user manual if needed.
- Ensure your phone is plugged in or has enough battery to complete the reset.
- Open Settings.
- Tap General.
- Select Backup and reset.
- Tap Factory data reset.
- Tap Reset device.
- Confirm by tapping Delete all.
How to factory reset an iPhone
- Ensure your iPhone is plugged in or has enough battery to complete the reset.
- Open Settings.
- Tap General.
- Select Transfer or Reset iPhone.
- Tap Erase All Content and Settings.
- Enter your passcode if prompted.
- Tap Continue.
- Confirm by tapping Delete all.
