If you’re having trouble with calls, these steps can help you get back to chatting in no time.
Recently transferred your number to Ting? Confirm it's completed the transfer. Numbers that have not completed transferring will not have service with Ting. You can swap back to your old SIM until the transfer completes.
1. Check airplane mode and do not disturb
Turn off airplane mode
iPhone
- Swipe down from the home screen to open the control center.
- If the airplane icon is highlighted, tap it to turn off Airplane Mode.
Android
- Open Settings.
- Tap Network & Internet.
- Toggle Airplane Mode off.
Turn off Do Not Disturb
iPhone
- Swipe down to open the control center.
- If the moon icon isn’t visible, Do Not Disturb is off.
Android
- Swipe down from the top of your screen.
- Tap Do Not Disturb to disable it.
3. Review the number dialed
Make sure you’re dialing a 10-digit number, like "111-111-1111."
4. Delete and re-add the contact
Remove and re-add the contact to ensure the number is stored correctly.
5. Dial long distance numbers correctly
Include the country code (e.g., +1 for US) when dialing long-distance numbers.
6. Check for blocked numbers
iPhone
- Open Settings.
- Tap Phone.
- Select Blocked Contacts.
Android
- Open the Phone app.
- Tap Settings.
- Select Block Numbers.
7. Disable call forwarding
Dial *73 to turn off call forwarding.
8. Enable VoLTE
iPhone
- Open Settings.
- Tap Cellular.
- Select Cellular Data Options.
- Under Voice & Data, ensure VoLTE is selected.
Android
- Open Settings.
- Tap Network & Internet.
- Select Mobile Network.
- Turn on Enhanced 4G LTE Mode or VoLTE.
9. Check your network mode
iPhone
- Open Settings.
- Tap Cellular.
- Select Cellular Data Options.
- Tap Enable 4G.
- Select Voice & Data.
Android
- Open Settings.
- Tap Connections.
- Choose Mobile Networks.
- Select Network Mode.
- Select your preferred network.
10. Reset your network settings
Note: This will delete saved Wi-Fi and Bluetooth passwords.
iPhone
- Go to Settings.
- Tap General.
- Select Transfer or Reset.
- Tap Reset.
- Choose Reset Network Settings.
Android
- Open Settings.
- Tap System.
- Select Reset Options.
- Choose Reset Wi-Fi, Mobile & Bluetooth.
- Tap Reset Settings.
11. Check your phone number status
Log in to your Ting account to confirm your number is active.
12. Restart your device
Restarting your phone refreshes its connection to the Ting network.
13. Confirm your software is up-to-date
iPhone
- Go to Settings.
- Tap General.
- Select Software Update.
Android
- Open Settings.
- Tap System.
- Select System Update.
14. Remove and re-insert your SIM card
Remove your SIM card, wait a few seconds, and reinsert it. This performs a hard reset and can resolve connection issues.
15. Confirm you’re not roaming internationally
Ting doesn’t currently support roaming outside of the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
